2016-03-05 - Sunday Prayers - Guan Di Temple, Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Taken while exploring Petaling Street's many side avenues and temples.
With buddhism being the 2nd largest religion practiced in Malaysia, with some estimations reaching upto 21% of the population, in large part due to the large chinese presence, there are many such ceremonies taking place on an almost constant basis in Kuala Lumpurs many buddhist temples.

Here, Mahayana material offerings often comprise of the lighting of a candle or an oil lamp representing the light of wisdom illuminating the darkness of ignorance. While the the burning of incense represents the fragrant scent of morality.

While not religious myself, I do highly respect buddhism focus on improving the self, rather than spreading the word of the religion.
